Prof. Saikat Chakrabarti

Dr. Saikat Chakrabarti is a distinguished academic and researcher in Electrical Engineering (EE), currently serving as Professor and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) Chair in the Dept. of EE at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK). He is a Fellow of renowned professional bodies including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), and Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), recognizing his significant contributions to power systems research. Prof. Chakrabarti completed his PhD in EE from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), Canada, in 2006. Prior to his PhD, he worked at Asea Brown Boveri (ABB), India, and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), India. Post-PhD, he served as Special Scientist at the University of Cyprus (UCY), Cyprus, and later as Research Associate and Lecturer at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia. Since 2009, he has been with IITK, becoming Chair Professor in 2018. He also served as Chair Professor and Director of the Emera & NB Power Research Centre for Smart Grid Technologies at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada. His research interests include monitoring, control, and protection of smart transmission and distribution (T&D) systems, smart grids (SG), and microgrids (MG), contributing significantly to the advancement of modern power and energy systems.

Dr. Monalisa Biswal

Dr. Monalisa Biswal received the M.Tech and Ph.D. degrees from VSSUT, Burla and Sambalpur University, Odisha, in 2008 and 2013. She has 6 years of industrial experience. Since 2013, she is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering in NIT Raipur. Dr. Biswal is a recipient of POSOCO Power System Award-2014, DST- SERB Young Scientist Award-2015, Chhattisgarh Young Scientist Award- 2017. She is a Senior Member of the IEEE (U.S.A). She has published over 100 journal articles, presented papers at conferences, and published one book and several chapters in books. She is the PI of 3 projects funded by SERB, and Horizon 2020 under EriGrid. She has guided 6 Ph.D students. Recently, she has organised IEEE conference, FDPs and workshops, supplied many invited talk and chaired in conferences. Her name also featured in the 2% scientist list released by the renowned Stanford University. Her area of current research includes Battery Management Systems, Microgrid protection.
